Tobacco Education Program for Minors

Education Resource provides state approved Tobacco Awareness Classes certified by Texas Department of State Health Services. This class is primarily for persons who are under the age of 18 and have committed their first tobacco related offense. The intent of instruction is to provide a non-hostile atmosphere with emphasis on education regarding tobacco. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussion and are required to complete workbook assignments in class. Upon successful completion of the course, the student is presented with a Texas State issued numbered certificate.

 Tobacco related offenses include:
Purchase of tobacco products by a minor
Possession of tobacco products by a minor
Consumption of tobacco products minor

 TYTAP Class Policies:
 (Texas Youth Tobacco Awareness Program)
1. Students may not use or possess tobacco while present at the sessions. Students must not have had any alcoholic beverage or be under the influence of any drug before or while attending sessions.
2. Beverages (soft drinks/water) and snacks are permitted during class sessions.
3. Students must attend all four days of the session in order to receive the certificate of completion. Students must arrive on time and stay through the end of each class. This rule is in accordance with criteria set by the State of Texas.
4. All electronic devices must be turned off during the class.
5. The fee for this course is $60.00 (cash or check) payable on the first day of class. The option to pay by PayPal is also offered when registration is completed online. This fee must be paid prior to the admission to the class and is not refundable. Returned check fee is $10.00
6. All assigned projects in the workbook must be completed and turned into the instructor in order to obtain the certificate of completion.
7. Students who are late cannot be admitted to class.
8. Students who are not considerate of other class members, the instructor, or the property may be asked to leave without a refund. This would include inappropriate language and disruptive behavior. If a student is dismissed, the referring Judge, JP, or school district will be notified.

NOTIFICATIONS
- Important Information -

 Certificates:
1. Upon successful completion of the course, the student is given an official State of Texas numbered certificate. (This may be required to be shown in person to the probation officer). Do not loose your Certificate.
2. It is the student's responsibility to take the certificate to the proper court official.
